What is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitizationand Reprocessingand was developed by Dr Francine Shapiro (USA) at the end of the 1980s. It is a therapeutic method that is often used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is based on the idea that eye movements or bilateral stimulation help to process traumatic memories and reduce their stressful effects. During the session, the client is asked to recall stressful experiences while simultaneously performing targeted eye movements. The aim is to alleviate the emotional reactions to the trauma and promote the healing process.

What is Somatic Experiencing?
About living and learning
Rolfing gave my life a new direction more than 20 years ago. I got to know Somatic Experiencing a few years ago and was immediately fascinated by this gentle but intensive method.
Working with people fascinates and fulfills me every day. Being able to experience the individual changes in my clients is always a great joy and an incentive to continue learning and to understand the complexity of the human system a little better.

What clients have said:
I always had problems with my back and a lot of tension and my knees always hurt when I was skiing. After the Rolfing treatment, I no longer had any knee pain. My back is getting better and better and I really have almost no more tension. My back worked for a long time after the treatments and it was also very painful at times. But I put up with it because I feel much better now. My new body feeling that I now have is quality of life for me and I am very glad that I got to know Rolfing, because it was a huge enrichment for me.

I have been working on my body as a dancer for 31 years. Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to develop some body awareness through techniques, helpful and unhelpful teachers, injuries and recoveries. Until I was introduced to Rolfing, I thought I had a pretty good body awareness... But I realized there was much more to learn. I realized that my awareness was limited by old habits and patterns. The Rolfing sessions were intense lessons for me, not only recognizing many more muscles in my body and the subtle connections, but also working (and still working) on old habits of movement and posture. The ten sessions are like a key that unlocks the treasures of our body. It is an immediate response, lively, sustainable and extremely efficient. The immediate changes in breathing and effort economy have had a very positive impact on my daily life as well as on my dance activity and practice. I think Rolfing has been the best investment I have made in myself.
